TAP DANCE BIO
Ms. Miller received her BA in Art and Art History from the
University of Iowa, where she began her dance training and performed
with the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane dance company in their production
"The Last Supper at Uncle Tom’s Cabin/The Promised Land."
Kim has
taught all levels of tap dance since 1989. After moving to St. Louis
in 1991, she began teaching tap classes and workshops throughout the
area. Her choreography has been performed at Washington University,
where she currently teaches, and can be seen in Rhythm and Dance, a
production she performs in as part of the dance team, American Feet,
for Young Audiences of St. Louis.
Kim is interested in the history
of tap and in the preservation and recreation of some of the dances
and styles of the masters of the art form. Kim is a current member
of the International Tap Association (ITA) and was a representative
for the state of Missouri for many years.
In some of her newest choreography projects, Kim Miller performs and teaches tap mixed with juggling that involves professional jugglers and tap dancers. (Contact: Lucy Thayer)
